Shared Services Centers

IT and business users should focus on centralizing and standardizing their administrative applications where possible. This will provide the right foundation for more efficient transaction processing and also support a move to shared services, which can further reduce administrative overhead and improve transaction processing times. However, shared services are about more than reducing costs. Shared service centers (SSCs) offer economies of scale for routine transaction processing that gives companies more opportunity to deliver value-added functions (such as balance sheet management) to internal customers.
